Style Me Sunday Editorial | Rock n Roll Bride Magazine

My very favourite thing about Instagram is that individuals have just as much of a voice as big brands, if not more. It’s a platform that is fair in its distribution of exposure and equates engagement as its strongest currency. And I engage much more with real women living real lives above fantasy starlets faking it all. Also, I have huge admiration for women taking their social media platforms and using them to portray a positive and inclusive message.

So I was super thrilled to be asked by Rock n Roll Bride to shoot Natalie Lee aka Style Me Sunday, the body positive activist and influencer with almost 60k IG followers. Sadly, not many wedding magazines will put a girl in her 30s or a girl with an afro on the cover so it was incredible to see this shoot when it hit the racks. Thank goodness there are women like Natalie and Kat being active on social media. The shoot used simple pastel backgrounds, forward thinking styling and was a helluva lot of fun to work on.

When I was younger I never saw women like me on the covers of magazines …

The Asylum, London Wedding | Tara + Mido

The Asylum, London Wedding | Tara + Mido

How incredible is The Asylum in London as a wedding venue? It’s basically a photographer’s dream. So of course I was super excited to return and see what I could come up with for Tara and Mido’s wedding. They loved Gemma and Guy‘s photos and I was hoping this would be another rock n roll adventure. I met Tara and her bridal squad over at The Zetter Town House where Louise Seymour was beautifying everyone. When we arrived at The Asylum, it was beautifully lit with candles and the ceremony began with a string quartet playing a Spiritualized song.

There were performances by Robert from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and James from Temples, I did mention this was quite the rock n roll wedding, didn’t I? … There was even a Kaiser Chief thrown in as a best man! For the main reception, we all relocated to the very gorgeous Brunswick House. Despite living in New York and being super busy with work, Tara and Mido planned an incredible wedding and this pair were absolutely made for each other… Their Instagram is full of date nights. To see the full breakdown of their day head over to their feature on Rock n Roll bride.

Though I know I’ll never lose AFFECTION FOR PEOPLE and things that went before, I know I’ll often stop and think about them. In my life I love you more …

Relaxed Wedding at Farbridge Barn in Sussex

Relaxed Wedding at Farbridge Barn in Sussex

Some weddings are so relaxed that you’d just love to be a guest at them. Like Jess and Joss’s big day at Farbridge Barn in Sussex. Jess was such a laid back bride and bridal prep felt like getting ready for a girls’ night out. Meantime Joss was greeting guests on the lawn before we all gathered for the very lovely ceremony.

Their wedding had Scottish elements, Danish elements, and lots of fun elements. We escaped to a nearby field and leafy lane for their portraits but I think my favourite pictures are on the Farm fence where we all suddenly realised that it looked a lot like a cast photo for Emmerdale! Can we go back and do it all again?

It’s too much to comprehend, Beyond all you’d imagine. I’m ENCHANTED by your magic, Caught in a spell that never ends …

In and Out Naval Club, London Wedding

In and Out Naval Club, London Wedding

You know those super imposing private member clubs in the elegant squares around central London? Ever wish that you could peek inside? I certainly have and so when the lovely Hilary and Kevin got in touch from their home in Canada to say that they were planning an intimate wedding in London at the private In and Out Naval Club, well of course I was in!

This pair are a lot of fun and many of their friends and family flew over to join them at their super elegant wedding. It felt like a really fancy dinner party but a very laid back one. They had a proper cocktail hour.. why do Brits NOT do these? They are such a great idea! And their speeches were some of the most heartfelt that I’ve ever heard.

Fill my heart with song, and let me SING FOR EVER more. You are all I long for, all I worship and adore …

Stylish Wedding at Wiston House, Sussex

Stylish Wedding at Wiston House, Sussex

If you are looking for a venue in Sussex that has that stylish country house party feel then Wiston House is the place for you. Emily and Dan checked in on the Friday night and hosted an intimate dinner party then on the Saturday their wedding kicked off. Friends and family all came together to celebrate and were free to roam about the grounds and the house.

It might look like a very impressive and grand space but it actually felt homely. Of course that is also down to Emily and Dan and their families’ great hosting skills. You don’t have to go too far at Wiston to find gorgeous places for photos both inside and out and I’d say that this lovely pair most definitely achieved their goal of having a relaxed, informal wedding with a huge amount of style.

And I will raise my hand up into the night time sky and COUNT THE STARS that’s shining in your eye …

That One Time When Crown & Glory Had a Festival Wedding …

That One Time When Crown & Glory Had a Festival Wedding …

You know I’ve been in this game for quite a while now, I’ve literally been to hundreds and hundreds of weddings in every corner of the UK. But this festival style wedding will forever be one of my all time favourites. Yes the Bride and Groom (Sophie and Gareth from Crown and Glory) are my friends and it’s always super special to be the photographer for someone you know; Yes I’d actually made it to Sophie’s wonderful hen party back in the summer and yes some of my close friends were also at this wedding. But above all of that, what made this wedding truly special was the couple. Sophie and Gareth know how to throw a helluva party, that’s for sure but what you might not see in these photos is just how much effort they made to ensure that all their guests had an utterly brilliant time. Right from the moment we all gathered in this wonderful place in Deepest Darkest Wales, the good times really rolled.

When I got to my room, I found an incredible welcome package including a bespoke flower crown that perfectly matched my skirt. Later on, I looked around the room as I shot the speeches and saw a sea of gorgeous flower crowns all perfectly matched to outfits and it dawned on me that Sophie has asked me what was I wearing weeks before.. ahhhhhh! See it’s that level of kindness that made us guests feel so much warmth and love from the newlyweds. Their generosity dripped out of every corner of this wedding and I left feeling like my joy tank had been refilled. Looking at the images again reminds me of so many fun moments. Now if this wedding is looking a little familiar then that might be because it is featured in the current issue of Rock n Roll Bride Magazine. Sophie is starring on the cover like the Goddess that she is.. well when your Maid of Honour is editor of a bridal magazine, it kind of HAD to happen, right?

a backless dress and some beat up sneaks, my discotheque Juliet TEENAGE DREAM, I felt it in my chest as she looked at me, I knew we were bound to be together …
