Relaxed Wedding at Farbridge Barn in Sussex

Relaxed Wedding at Farbridge Barn in Sussex

Some weddings are so relaxed that you’d just love to be a guest at them. Like Jess and Joss’s big day at Farbridge Barn in Sussex. Jess was such a laid back bride and bridal prep felt like getting ready for a girls’ night out. Meantime Joss was greeting guests on the lawn before we all gathered for the very lovely ceremony.

Their wedding had Scottish elements, Danish elements, and lots of fun elements. We escaped to a nearby field and leafy lane for their portraits but I think my favourite pictures are on the Farm fence where we all suddenly realised that it looked a lot like a cast photo for Emmerdale! Can we go back and do it all again?

It’s too much to comprehend, Beyond all you’d imagine. I’m ENCHANTED by your magic, Caught in a spell that never ends …

Stylish Wedding at Wiston House, Sussex

Stylish Wedding at Wiston House, Sussex

If you are looking for a venue in Sussex that has that stylish country house party feel then Wiston House is the place for you. Emily and Dan checked in on the Friday night and hosted an intimate dinner party then on the Saturday their wedding kicked off. Friends and family all came together to celebrate and were free to roam about the grounds and the house.

It might look like a very impressive and grand space but it actually felt homely. Of course that is also down to Emily and Dan and their families’ great hosting skills. You don’t have to go too far at Wiston to find gorgeous places for photos both inside and out and I’d say that this lovely pair most definitely achieved their goal of having a relaxed, informal wedding with a huge amount of style.

And I will raise my hand up into the night time sky and COUNT THE STARS that’s shining in your eye …

Cowdray House Wedding in Sussex | Gini + Marc

Cowdray House Wedding in Sussex | Gini + Marc

Well Cowdray House in Sussex may be one of the fanciest wedding venues that I’ve ever been to. It is a very grand Stately Home – I spotted a stone unicorn perching on the roof, yes it’s THAT fancy! It is absolutely immaculate, in a break I got up close and personal with the book shelves and couldn’t find a single spot of dust. Very impressive in a space that size but it still feels quite homely and recently it played host to a mighty fine wedding for the very lovely Gini and Marc.

This pair of lovers have been on an international whirlwind since meeting in Gini’s home town of Cincinnati a year ago. Marc, a Brit, was there on business and they have since settled in Switzerland. The wedding felt like a very wonderful English Country House Weekend Party with some fun elements from the USA, like a Bourbon Bar and a S’mores Station. The excellent Jacaranda treated us all like Lords for the day and as we left guests were downing Jager Bombs while the band were rocking out.

Well I came home, like a stone and I fell heavy into YOUR ARMS. These days of dust which we’ve known, will blow away with this new sun …

Brighton Music Hall + Hotel Pelirocco Alternative Wedding // Sarah + Josh

Brighton Music Hall + Hotel Pelirocco Alternative Wedding // Sarah + Josh

Sarah and Josh planned such a fun and laid back alternative wedding across three different venues… Hotel Pelirocco, Brighton Town Hall and Brighton Music Hall. We started coverage at the Hotel where Sarah was up in the Cloud Cuckoo suite while Josh was in the Gresham Blake room. As they were planning to go into their ceremony together, we headed down to the beach for their First Look photography. Despite being December, it was an incredible day. Really mild and sunny so we strolled along the seafront to the ceremony.

Dinner was Fish n Chips before we all wandered back to the Pelirocco for cocktails, karaoke and a disco. Sarah paired her vintage dress with a custom birdcage veil from the brilliant Crown and Glory plus a leather jacket covered in pins including the Rock n Roll Wife one from Veronica Dearly and Rock n Roll Bride. She wore very cute wedding shoes from Irregular Choice but I spied her padding about the hotel in Christmas socks before we left. It was relaxed, fun and we just loved being there.

Like a river flows, surely to the sea. Darling so it goes, SOME THINGS are meant to be …

Worthing Pier Wedding // Léonie + Adam

Worthing Pier Wedding // Léonie + Adam

Léonie and Adam have made their home together in Worthing and chose to host their wedding in the glamorous Art Deco surroundings of the Southern Pavilion on Worthing Pier. They told me they were going for a glam 1920s look and that the bride would be in an ice blue satin gown. Well, I was pretty happy with that, oh and did I mention the Dachshund?

There have been weddings that I shot where the couple got ready at the same place and even got dressed together but this is the first time that I had a groom and his son helping the bride get into her wedding dress. But their whole day was relaxed, unconventional and very elegant. As we left, the nine piece Gypsy band was in full swing and the party was well underway.

I would take the stars out of the sky FOR YOU, stop the rain from falling if you asked me to …

Chafford Park Festival Wedding // Laura + Joseba

Chafford Park Festival Wedding // Laura + Joseba

This has been the year of the Festival Wedding for sure and on the August Bank Holiday I headed to the glorious Chafford Park in rural Sussex for the very lovely Laura and Joseba’s wedding. This is quite a new venue but it is perfect if you want somewhere you can make your own for the weekend, the accommodation is terrific and you can opt for tipis or the barn for your reception. This was such a fun wedding, I knew it would be. The couple met in Ibiza where the groom was DJing

and his family brought with them some of the Basque wedding traditions. When the couple exited the ceremony, Joseba’s friends and family were lined up with scarves for them to walk under, then they had confetti and that was followed by a musician and dancer from Barcelona. As you can see Laura was quite pregnant and along with Joseba’s look for the day, I couldn’t help but think of Kill Bill 2. I loved this wedding and as we left, guests were dancing while the groom played a set and the pizza van was churning out delicious pizzas.

Ten days of perfect tunes, the colours red and blue. We had a PROMISE MADE, we were in love …
