When Charlotte at Wilden London got in touch to ask if I’d like to shoot some dresses from her new Ready To Wear Bridal Collection, of course I was in. But then the heatwave hit and the entire country ground to a halt including delivery services so sadly the frocks were held up for a few days. This meant I couldn’t shoot them in London as originally planned (cue emergency trip to Zara for backup dresses).
However, I also didn’t want to send them back without having shot them – they are far too pretty for that. Within a couple of days, I found the perfect model, Isobel and a fabulous Hair and Makeup Artist, Ellie who is also based in Brighton. So if London was out, maybe the countryside was in? We have so many gorgeous spaces in Sussex, it’s not difficult to find locations. This setting is right by my house, even though I live in the city. It’s where I walk my dogs in the morning so I had the chance to do a recce and found the amazing yellow bushes.
I loved shooting these pieces and Isobel looked incredible in them. How wonderful is it that the scalloped dress can be made into a mini? It can also have another layer added to it. So potentially you could wear a full-length, midi and/or mini version of the same dress on your wedding day.
“In our history, across our great divide, There is a glorious sunrise, Dappled with the flickers of light. From THE DRESS I WORE AT MIDNIGHT, Leave it all behind and there is happiness…”
