Balcombe Place Wedding

Balcombe Place Wedding

Thinking of having a Balcombe Place Wedding? I cannot think of many places that are finer in Sussex for that chilled-out, luxe, weekend wedding vibe. Recently, Balcombe Place opened its mighty fine doors for us to host another of Photography Farm‘s Shoot Days there. These are portfolio building days for wedding photographers. It was a huge privilege to have access to the house and it’s glorious grounds. My co-host on this one was the ever brilliant Benjamin Wheeler. It was such a joy to see him work and see how much the attendees took away.

Our plan with this particular Shoot Day was to focus on the celebration parts of weddings. Like the toasts and the first dance. Alex, the incredible stylist and planner came up with the idea for a table plan made up of helium balloons at the entrance to the ballroom at Balcombe Place. These are some of my favourite images from the day featuring Brontë and Lewis.

Let’s sway, while colour lights up YOUR FACE. Let’s sway, sway through the crowd to an empty place …

Wedding at Cowdray House in Sussex

Wedding at Cowdray House in Sussex

Cowdray House in Sussex has to be one of the grandest wedding venues local to me. It is one of those gorgeous country house venues that you can take over for the entire weekend. So arrive on a Friday evening, have a lovely dinner with your nearest and dearest, then have a leisurely morning getting ready for your big day. It means that weddings there tend to be very relaxed but luxe, so I love shooting them. Mo and Nick had such a beautiful wedding, focused on family and friends with lots of lovely touches like a pop-up cocktail bar and boxes of cigars.

If you were standing right in front of me, I’ll finally see what it means to be complete. Don’t need to spend our lives CHASING GOLD, anywhere with you, I’ll call my home …

Outdoor Festival Wedding at Duncton Mill Fishery

Outdoor Festival Wedding at Duncton Mill Fishery

You have to love the great British weather, don’t ya? I’m pretty sure that the trend for outdoor and festival style weddings started somewhere a lot milder and more predictable. But us Brits have embraced the trend and as long as you are prepared for anything, then you to can host your wedding outdoors in the UK. Take Sarah and Andy for instance. They booked the glorious Duncton Mill Fishery in Sussex for their wedding. They had wind, rain, sunshine and more rain but they also had the most perfect day. It was sunny just at the right times and we just dived for cover when it wasn’t.

Sunny, thank you for the SUNSHINE BOUQUET. Sunny, thank you for the love you brought my way …

The George in Rye Wedding | Natasha + Dom

The George in Rye Wedding | Natasha + Dom

Entering the ancient town of Rye in Sussex is like stepping back in time. It is such a pretty and quaint place and if you decide to have your wedding at the Town Hall then you will announce to the world that you are married not by updating your status on Facebook but by the very loud bell and shouting of the local town cryer.

He will also noisily escort you and you guests down to the very beautiful George Hotel if that is where your reception is, just like Natasha and Dom. After a swift couple of champagnes, we headed for a stroll around those cobbled streets for some portraits before joining the party in the sunny hotel garden. This was a lovely laid back wedding.

When you’re lost and you’re alone and you can’t get back again, I will FIND YOU darling and I will bring you home …

Relaxed Wedding at Farbridge Barn in Sussex

Relaxed Wedding at Farbridge Barn in Sussex

Some weddings are so relaxed that you’d just love to be a guest at them. Like Jess and Joss’s big day at Farbridge Barn in Sussex. Jess was such a laid back bride and bridal prep felt like getting ready for a girls’ night out. Meantime Joss was greeting guests on the lawn before we all gathered for the very lovely ceremony.

Their wedding had Scottish elements, Danish elements, and lots of fun elements. We escaped to a nearby field and leafy lane for their portraits but I think my favourite pictures are on the Farm fence where we all suddenly realised that it looked a lot like a cast photo for Emmerdale! Can we go back and do it all again?

It’s too much to comprehend, Beyond all you’d imagine. I’m ENCHANTED by your magic, Caught in a spell that never ends …

Stylish Wedding at Wiston House, Sussex

Stylish Wedding at Wiston House, Sussex

If you are looking for a venue in Sussex that has that stylish country house party feel then Wiston House is the place for you. Emily and Dan checked in on the Friday night and hosted an intimate dinner party then on the Saturday their wedding kicked off. Friends and family all came together to celebrate and were free to roam about the grounds and the house.

It might look like a very impressive and grand space but it actually felt homely. Of course that is also down to Emily and Dan and their families’ great hosting skills. You don’t have to go too far at Wiston to find gorgeous places for photos both inside and out and I’d say that this lovely pair most definitely achieved their goal of having a relaxed, informal wedding with a huge amount of style.

And I will raise my hand up into the night time sky and COUNT THE STARS that’s shining in your eye …
