London Bride Shoot for Crown and Glory with Rock n Roll Bride

London Bride Shoot for Crown and Glory with Rock n Roll Bride

How have I not yet blogged this super pretty shoot for the Rock n Roll Bride veil collection at Crown and Glory? We decided to do a shoot with a very London look but the kind of London that you see in Richard Curtis movies.. all pastel coloured houses and blue skies. We wanted our model to convey a laid back urban bride and I think Tinks totally got the vibe.

The veils are all super cute and available here. The very lovely flowers for this shoot were provided by Amie Bone, the make up and hair was done by the brilliant Tabby Castro and most of the bridal wear is from Halfpenny London. If the location looks a little familiar, it was were Ness and Mugs took me for their London Engagement and they tell me there are always film crews there!

Every inch of sky’s got a star. Every inch of skin’s got a scar. I guess that you’ve got EVERYTHING now …

Elvis + Priscilla // Wedding Shoot Rock n Roll Bride Magazine

Rock and Roll Bride magazine is a terrific source of inspiration for alternative couples planning their weddings. The editor, Kat is pretty open minded when it comes to pitching her suggestions for editorial shoots for the magazine and for me, this idea had been brewing for a while. You see, I’m kind of really obsessed with the love story between Elvis and Priscilla. And I often wonder, would it ever even happen in modern times? So for me this shoot was an homage to their love story with a very modern twist.

Some of the best things about working with Kat are the creative team that she brings together for projects (see credits at bottom) and her own ideas. It was Kat that twisted this from having a male model in our ‘Elvis’ role into having our incredible model Tarla translate both characters. Erica and Alex did a wonderful job on the styling, I hope brides see that weddings don’t have to be all tulle or lace. Finally, how lucky was I being let loose in the amazing Hotel Pelirocco with all it’s music inspired rooms?

Well though it’s always crowded, you still can find some room. For BROKEN-HEARTED LOVERS to cry there in the gloom. And they’ll be so, they’ll be so lonely baby, They’ll be so lonely, they could die…

Rock n Roll Bride // Irregular Choice Shoot // Hotel Pelirocco

When Kat from Rock n Roll Bride first told me that she was collaborating with the incredible shoe company Irregular Choice and creating some shoe designs with them, I immediately put myself forward to shoot the look book. I adore their shoes and love seeing them at weddings, so of course I was super excited to see what Kat would come up with after being let loose in their design department. I expected sparkles, pink, love hearts but I didn’t predict flamingos! There are two pairs which are both ace and I’d love to see some more in the future.

As the shoot was planned for early summer, we hoped to use a mini golf course as a backdrop but in true British Weather style we ended up with torrential rain on the day. Luckily the very wonderful Pelirocco Hotel in Brighton saved the day and let us shoot in and around the hotel. The shoes are of course utterly divine and I hope to see one of my future brides in her own pair soon. Hotfoot it (pardon the pun) over to either Kat’s site or Irregular Choice now to grab a pair. Oh and if you like the look of the frocks, they are by the glorious Oh My Honey in Brighton.

I’ll wave with you behind me with a NEW SMILE on my face, Cause I’m walking in new shoes now, I got a new song to sing …

Eden Project // Wedding Shoot

Eden Project // Wedding Shoot

Have you ever been to The Eden Project in Cornwall? It was one of those places that I kept meaning to visit but never quite got around to it, so when they invited me down there to do a wedding shoot for them, I was pretty happy to oblige. In fact I brought my little family with me and we all stayed on site in converted shipping containers. It was quite an adventure.

It sure is a spectacular place for a wedding, ceremonies can take place in various spots around the the biomes and it is simply stunning for photos. There are not many places in the UK where you can embrace the tropical, as well as the Mediterranean but I think my favourite spot was Wild Cornwall. Thanks to all the events team down there for the hospitality and to everyone who helped on this shoot.

Come closer and see, see into the trees. Find THE GIRL if you can…

The Bearded Bride // shoot for Rock n Roll Bride Magazine

There are not many people who turn heads in Brighton. We are an anything goes kind of town, we positively embrace the flamboyant, the extroverts, punks, drag queens, goths, trans, we kind of think we have seen it all. Well it turns out that this town can still be stopped in it’s tracks and I saw a lot of that when I spent the day with this incredible human. Harnaam Kaur has a pretty unique story, diagnosed with PCOS at 11, she went on to suffer bullying due to her excess hair. At the tender age of 16 when most of us would rather die than leave the house with anything that drew negative attention to our appearance, Harnaam took the amazing decision to embrace what made her different. She stopped getting rid of her hair and transformed into The Bearded Dame. In fact she now campaigns for positive body image and is an anti-bullying activist. And let me tell you, she is one inspiring lady to hang out with. My girls were utterly besotted with her and talked of nothing else for days. The little one even started a class discussion on whether women could have beards and told everyone that she had seen a beautiful Indian Princess with one for real.

When Kat from Rock n Roll Bride magazine first told me that she was meeting up with Harnaam I pitched the idea of doing a shoot. Harnaam has been getting a fair bit of press which is really helping to spread her positive message so for this I wanted to focus on her beauty and do something that I had not done much of before, Asian Bridal. The Royal Pavilion in Brighton very kindly gave us permission to shoot in their grounds which I was really thrilled about. I cannot imagine a more perfect backdrop and we even got the glorious Indian Summer weather. Sati did such a stunning job with the make-up and Church Lane Flowers once again rose to the challenge with beautiful florals. Harnaam’s positivity is utterly infectious and if these images help to challenge what Asian Bridal beauty can be or they inspire girls to also embrace what is different in them, then our work here is done. This shoot is featuring in the current issue of Rock n Roll Bride magazine where you can read Harnaam’s piece on Bridal Body Confidence and loving the skin you’re in. The following quote is from Harnaam and I think you will also fall a little in love with her if you read the full article.

Once we unconditionally fall in love with ourselves and our bodies, the taunts of others won’t effect on us anymore. Self-Love and empowerment starts from within. It is a journey that each and every one of us should aim to travel on, it is extremely liberating and beautiful…
